Season's Greetings and Welcome to my blog!

I’m now a sophomore at the University of Iowa and study art and journalism. Although freshman year was a bit rocky, this year has been significantly better. I have a great group of friends with similar interests and goals. My two best friends, Claire and Darrah, help me feel comfortable in Iowa City when times become stressful. Although I will miss them, I’m really looking forward to taking a break from the books. Mike and I are still dating. Although originally I started taking art classes as a way to relax and maintain a hobby, I found that it is actually a passion and hope to incorporate it into my life permanently. I took Life Drawing and Ceramics this semester and really enjoyed both classes. Next semester I plan on taking Ceramics II (so I can work on the wheel) and Introduction to Photography. Over winter break, I’m applying to an arts workshop in Deer Isle, Maine called Haystack. It offers classes in woodworking, glassblowing, and ceramics (among other things) and hopefully I will head out there this summer to participate.

Some of the highlights of the past year: the birth of Sammy (who has the biggest, bluest eyes I’ve ever seen), the friendships I’ve made in Iowa City, the dress-up parties I’ve been to, 3 a.m. sledding.

Best of wishes in the New Year!

Going to a “Eurotrash dance party” with my friends Darrah and Claire. (We weren’t actually smoking cigarettes, they are props). It took me about five minutes to tease my hair into that position and all the next day to get it unknotted.

Hey Bit
Great pictures! Just a warning, those "biggest, bluest eyes" are morphing into big brown eyes! They are still BIG compared to her itty bitty nose and lips! We can't wait to see you over your break!
Your biggest sis!
